Cirque du Soleil

Writer and Director

Michel Laprise worked in theatre for nine years as an actor, director and artistic director before joining Cirque du Soleil in 2000. At Cirque du Soleil, Michel has had a rapid ascendant track, going from talent scout to Special Events Designer. He has directed several large-scale performance events, including the launch of the Fiat Bravo in Italy; the Cirque du Soleil spectacle celebrating Québec City’s 400th anniversary; and Madonna’s Super Bowl XLVI halftime show (as artistic director) before becoming the show director of her MDNA tour. In 2013, Michel directed the acclaimed musical Robin des bois – Ne renoncez jamais, which toured in Europe, and Cirque du Soleil’s KURIOS: Cabinet of Curiosities in 2014.  In 2017, Michel wrote and directed Cirque du Soleil’s 40th production, “SEP7IMO DIA – No Descansaré”, inspired by the music of Argentina’s most cherished rock band of all time, SODA STEREO.  Michel is currently working on two other upcoming Cirque du Soleil productions.
